When are Tooth Extractions Necessary?
You should know that we’ll never suggest extracting a tooth unless it’s absolutely necessary—your teeth are very important, and they should only be removed if they can’t be saved! That said, if one or more of your teeth has suffered irreparable damage, or your mouth’s wellness is at stake, we might suggest tooth extraction. Here are a few scenarios that might warrant this:
- The tooth in question is so damaged or decayed that it isn’t treatable with a filling or another type of restoration.
- Gum disease has progressed to the point where the tooth is too loose to remain in the mouth.
- The tooth is causing crowding and needs to be removed before orthodontic treatment.
